THE DR. CORAZON VC. BARBA EXCELLENCE AWARD

The Dr. Corazon VC. Barba Excellence Award stands as a distinguished recognition, paying tribute to individuals who have exhibited exemplary commitment and achievements in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics. Established to honor those with at least a decade-long tenure in the Nutrition and Dietetics or related domains, the award places a spotlight on individuals who have made noteworthy contributions to the Nutrition and Dietetics profession in the Philippines and abroad. Whether in food service, clinical practice, research, academia, or community and public health services, recipients of this accolade are distinguished by their exceptional impact on the nutrition and health of Filipinos. The Dr. Corazon VC. Barba Excellence Award is open to any individual working in their respective fields with significant contributions in Nutrition and Dietetics. Non-Registered Nutritionist-Dietitians and Non-PSND members are eligible to nominate and to be nominated.

This prestigious award also emphasizes transformative leadership qualities, seeking nominees who not only showcase enduring commitment but also exhibit exceptional credibility, integrity, and wield significant influence and authority in their professional endeavors. It recognizes individuals who have garnered high regard from their peers and colleagues within the Nutrition and Dietetics and associated professional domains, further underscoring the importance of collaborative and influential contributions to the broader community. The Dr. Corazon VC. Barba Excellence Award aims to celebrate and support those whose outstanding work continues to shape the landscape of Nutrition and Dietetics, leaving a lasting positive impact on both the profession and the health of the Filipino population.

The recipient will be awarded with a plaque and a cash prize. The monetary award is intended to support the awardee in sustaining their outstanding contributions that have positively influenced or will continue to impact the various aspects and fields of the Nutrition and Dietetics profession.

Nominated individuals must satisfy the following criteria:

Established career, Professional Background, and Credentials 15% The award is open to any individual working in any field with significant contributions in Nutrition and Dietetics. Non-Registered Nutritionist-Dietitians and Non-PSND members are eligible to be nominated.

Foundational qualifications and expertise within the field of nutrition and related fields. It encompasses educational background, professional certifications, years of experience, and notable achievements or recognitions.

Should have an established career for more than 10 years.

Has mastery of relevant skills, ongoing professional development, and noteworthy accomplishments that highlight their commitment to excellence.

Should be recognized as an expert in his or her field.

Strategic and innovative approaches 25% Hold significant leadership roles that drive impactful changes in an organization.

Has an excellent track record in adopting new technologies, pioneering methodologies, and leading initiatives that demonstrate a forward-thinking and strategic mindset.

Has promoted or initiated innovative ideas, programs or interventions that drive impactful changes in various fields of nutrition.

Impact of outstanding contributions to the profession, to the industry/community, and to food and nutrition security 50% Has tangible influence on the profession, community, and the broader issue of food and nutrition security.

The significance, scope, and sustainability of the work.

Contributions that have positively impacted the profession, engaged the industry/community, and made substantial (cited and notable) strides in addressing food and nutrition security challenges.

The extra mile 10% Going above and beyond their professional duties to make a significant impact.

Demonstrated exceptional dedication, resilience, or philanthropy beyond the regular scope of their professional responsibilities.

This may include volunteer work, mentorship, collaboration, or initiatives that showcase a genuine passion for making a difference.

Screening and Evaluation

The Selection Committee shall screen all nominations with complete documentary requirements and determine the correctness of the category vis-à-vis the accomplishment/s presented. The committee will also conduct initial evaluation of the nominations based on criteria in section I and submit to the PSND Board the shortlist of finalists for validation or interview and final deliberation.

*The Selection Committee is composed of the PSND President, Ex-officio, 1 adviser, 1 BOT, and 1 external expert.
