On 19 October 2024, the PSND successfully hosted the first episode of the WoW 2024 Series: Econutrition in a BANI World: A Prelude to the 4th Southeast Asian Conference, with over 100 participants joining via Microsoft Teams.
The webinar focused on how to address food, nutrition, and environmental challenges in a BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, Incomprehensible) world, highlighting the need for innovative and sustainable solutions amid today’s uncertainties.
The event featured three engaging topics. Dr. Aimee Sheree A. Barrion discussed “Foodservice in Flux: Perpetuating Uniqueness Amidst Constant Changes”, shedding light on adapting food services in a rapidly evolving landscape. Dr. Maria Theresa M. Talavera explored the state of “Higher Education in Nutrition and Dietetics in a BANI World,” emphasizing how institutions can prepare professionals for a complex and uncertain future. Finally, Dr. Leila S. Africa reflected on “Revisiting SEACoN’s Past and its Relevance to Public Health Nutrition,” connecting historical lessons to current public health nutrition practices.
The program was moderated by Dr. Irma U. Danao, with opening remarks from PSND President, Ma. Cristina B. Sision, and synthesis and closing remarks from Dr. Liezl M. Atienza. The event provided participants with a platform for insightful discussions, expert knowledge sharing, and opportunities to engage with thought leaders on how to foster sustainable and inclusive solutions in the ever-changing global landscape.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event!
