The PSND Webinar on Weekend (WoW) 2024 Series #3, titled “Local Governments Taking the Lead: Creating Healthy Food Environments,” gathered over 100 attendees to discuss initiatives for promoting healthier food environments at the local level.

Mr. Alvin Manalansan, PSND Auditor, delivered the opening remarks, setting the stage for the webinar’s three key presentations.

Ms. Jeline Marie Corpuz, Program Manager at Imagine Law and PSND Assistant Secretary, led the first discussion on food environment research within government institutions. This was followed by Ms. Jirah Asa Sideco, Officer-in-Charge of the Quezon City Health Department Nutrition Section, who spoke about the Quezon City Calorie Labeling Ordinance. Hon. John Tobit E. Cruz, Municipal Councilor of Taytay, Rizal, concluded the discussions by highlighting the Taytay ordinance on marketing restrictions for unhealthy foods and beverages.

An engaging open forum addressed questions from the participants, and the event concluded with closing remarks from PSND Board Member Luz Felicidad Callanta. The overall event was moderated by PSND Vice President Apple Espino.
