More than 500 attendees, both in-person and virtual via Zoom platform, joined today’s engaging hybrid seminar on the topic “Why Climate and Nutrition Need Each Other: Some Evidence from the Philippines”. Moderated by PSND President Ma. Cristina B. Sison, the event featured welcome messages from Dr. Liezl M. Atienza, Director, UPLB Institute of Human Nutrition and Food, College of Human Ecology; Dr. Julieta A. Delos Reyes, Chair, Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, College of Economics and Management; and Dr. Glenn B. Gregorio, Director, SEARCA Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research for Agriculture.
Dr. Rico C. Ancog, Dean of the School of Environmental Science and Management, provided an insightful discussion on Climate Change in the Philippines, setting the stage for the seminar’s central theme. This pivotal topic paved the way for the eloquent presentation of the main focus by Dr. Lawrence Haddad, Executive Director of GAIN and 2018 World Food Prize Laureate.
This event was made possible through the joint collaboration of the following organizations: UPLB Institute of Human Nutrition and Food (UPLB IHNF), UPLB College of Human Ecology (CHE), UPLB School of Environmental Science and Management (SESAM), UPLB College of Economics and Management (CEM), Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research for Agriculture (SEARCA), Philippine Association of Nutrition – Alpha Omega Chapter, and the Philippine Stakeholders for Nutrition and Dietetics, Inc. (PSND).
